We are a group of volunteers who strive to meet our vision to create and live in a community which fosters compassion through action, to alleviate the financial burden on seriously ill individuals in our community

Rick McDaniel – President

Rick is a long-time resident of Terrace with an extensive history in Terrace’s business community and forestry sector; currently working full time as a realtor at RE/MAX Coast Mountains.

As a huge community supporter, Rick currently holds several volunteer positions with local organizations: Chair for 16/37 Community Futures, Director at Northwest Business Development Corporation, Treasurer for Centennial Christian School and a Canadian Ranger.

Aside from several current volunteer positions Rick is also a member of the Kinsmen Club and was previously President with the local branch. Rick Slavik – Vice President

Rick was born in Alberta and raised in Fort St John, BC. Almost immediately after graduation, he took a leap of faith and hit the road to pursue a career in music. His band, Simon Kaos, didn’t make it huge, but they spent ten fabulous years traveling Western Canada. Rick met amazing people, learned many life lessons, gained knowledge and experience not teachable in university and HAD A LOT OF FUN!

When he decided to settle, he chose Terrace because of all it offers. He enjoys fly fishing, hiking, kayaking and keeps his fingers in the music world.

After university, Rick began a career as an Information Technologist and currently works for Coast Mountain College.

Over the years he has learned patience, laughter, family, friends, moments and memories are what matter most. Rick is a big proponent of living a meaningful life and giving back, which is why he looks forward to volunteering as Director with Kimmunity Angels.

Alyssa Bjorgaard – Treasurer

Alyssa was born and raised in Terrace. She moved to Kamloops in 2013 where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2017 from Thompson Rivers University.

After receiving her degree, she moved back home to be close to her family. She is a working professional with MNP accounting firm and is currently studying for her Chartered Professional Accounting designation.

Alyssa is excited to use her skills obtained throughout her education to give to the community she was born and raised.

Alyssa is an ambitious, young dedicated professional and Kimmunity Angels is grateful to have someone of her caliber lead the financial aspect of the Society.

Bonnie Olson – Director

Terrace has been home to Bonnie for 55 years and when she’s not working, she enjoys its pristine outdoors; walking, hiking, biking, quading or kayaking with friends and family. In 1975 she married her high school sweetheart and is blessed with a beautiful daughter, son in-law and two precious grandchildren; family is of utmost importance to her.

Bonnie pursued a career in the dental profession; attained her CDA certification through NAIT. She has been a reliable and dedicated employee at Park Avenue Dental since 1974, managing their successful practice.

Like many families, Bonnie’s loved ones have been affected by serious illness, which, is how she understands and recognizes first hand, the challenges that take a toll on physical and emotional health and recovery. Bonnie’s compassion and giving nature is what motivated her to join the Kimmunity Angels Society, Board of Director and we are lucky to have her.

Donna Slavik – Executive Director and Founder

Donna was born in beautiful Nova Scotia and considers herself lucky to have also lived in Quebec, Alberta and BC. In 1985 she came to Terrace and stayed, except for a brief period when she lived in Chilliwack and Prince Rupert.

After raising her children, obtaining a meaningful career became her focus, which led her to a regional management position with Kopar Administration Ltd.  In 2007 she transitioned from Kopar Administration to the Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation ( say that fast 3 times ) and currently works as an Adjudicator for the Health Assistance Branch, which she thoroughly enjoys.

Giving connects us to others, creates strong communities which in turn helps build a stronger society. As the President of Kimmunity Angels Society, Donna looks forward to giving and connecting with her community to promote a happy and healthy society.

Amanda Checkley – Director

Amanda and her husband, Jim, are long time residents of Terrace and avid community supporters. After working many years working for Coast Mountain College, Amanda enjoys her time travelling, being outdoors and volunteering. Amanda is modest, preferring to remain behind the scenes where she plays a large role in supporting, promoting, and guiding Kimmunity Angels to success.
